NEW! Chairman's
Report
Bright sunshine and a cool north wind greeted the riders for the 2012 Tytherton Ride which
had the highest number of participants for a number of years.
388 riders arrived at Field
Farm Bremhill to ride across 12 miles of Wiltshire countryside in aid of local charities and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
The event is staged with the kind permission of Michael and Elizabeth Parlett of Field Farm. Over 40 cross
country jumps were laid out by course builder Mike Chapman of Tytherton Lucas. A total of £8400 was
raised during the day. The Ride started at 10am, and riders from Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Somerset enjoyed the good
going and a variety of cross country jumps. The 6 mile ride took the riders down to Hazeland Mill, and back to Monument Farm
where a dozen cross country fences with a photographer finished the ride. The longer 12 mile ride sent the riders from Bremhill
House to Spirt Hill, and then across the Cade Burn to Foxham and then East Tytherton. The long climb back to Maud Heath’s
memorial tested the energy levels of both horse and rider. Chairman Ian James said “All of the riders have had a wonderful
day, and to cap it all 94% of the riders stated that the organisation of the Ride was excellent, I would like to thank all
the stewards, the land owners and the committee for making this Ride so successful” "Very well organised, having drinks at half way point was amazing! Felt like you were really
looked after by all the helpers along the way who were all really friendly. You can see the all the hard work put into the
day. Thank you to everyone involved, me and my friends had an awesome day!!" Natalie Davies - 2012 Facebook Comment Winner
"Was my first time at Tytherton, will be back next year" "It was superb! Thanks!" "Had a brill ride both me and my horse loved it thanks for making my
day so special!" "Great
